LAHORE: On Saturday, officials at the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Su–parco) said that Pakistan’s latest remote sensing satellite had successfully returned to orbit and started operations.

On July 31, the satellite was launched from the Xichang launch center in China.

The satellite has begun obtaining high-resolution photos to transmit to the ground and has established reliable communication links with ground stations.

Data for many facets of national life will become accessible as a result.

The satellite’s superior imaging capabilities will transform infrastructure construction and urban planning. Additionally, it will assist in tracking patterns in urban development and sprawl.

It will provide timely data that could notify authorities of the likelihood of earthquakes, landslides, floods, and other calamities, strengthening the natural disaster prevention system and facilitating quick action.

Additionally, the satellite will contribute to environmental conservation by tracking deforestation and glacier melting.

Experts predict that it will contribute to increased agricultural output.

It is anticipated that the satellite will be crucial to the implementation of development initiatives such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, transportation network mapping, geohazard identification, and the efficient utilization of natural resources.
