Cybercrime soars 83% in 3 years, NA panel told

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication on Wednesday directed the Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) to present proffers in the coming meeting for perfecting its cyber sect performance after it was informed that cybercrime soared by 83 in the last three times.

The panel which met then with Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali as the president expressed grave concern over the negative propaganda and juggernauts being run against politicians, intelligencers, and institutions on social media and the importance of tagged representatives and their families.

The commission emphasized the capacity- the structure of the staff working in the FIA cybercrime sect, recommending that the civil government should take immediate way to appoint endless, competent, and educated officers in the cybercrime sect and ensure the provision of all necessary coffers.

During the meeting, MNA Javeria Zafar expressed serious concern over the system of cybercrime, saying that culprits are called, bullied, and also released.

An FIA functionary said, “Child pornography is punishable by life imprisonment, while sacrilege cases by death.”
