Musk, who also owns SpaceX, Tesla, and a number of other businesses and bought Twitter last month, has been known to make ambitious predictions about his businesses, some of which did not come true. He promised in July 2019 that Neuralink would be able to conduct its first human tests in 2020.
Monkeys have had the prototypes, which are the size of a coin, inserted into their skulls.
The company showed several monkeys using their Neuralink implants to “play” basic video games or move a cursor on a screen at the Neuralink presentation. Musk stated that the company would attempt to restore human mobility and vision through the use of the implants.
He stated, “Initially, we would enable someone with almost no muscle control to operate their phone faster than someone with working hands.”
He stated, “We are confident that it is possible to restore full body functionality to someone who has a severed spinal cord, as miraculous as it may sound.”
He stated that Musk’s ultimate objective is to ensure that humans are not intellectually overwhelmed by artificial intelligence, in addition to the potential to treat neurological diseases.
Synchron is one of several companies developing systems of a similar nature. In July, it made the announcement that it had implanted the first brain-machine interface in the United States.

Conflict with Apple a “misunderstanding”
Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, claimed that on Wednesday he met with Apple CEO Tim Cook and “resolved the misunderstanding” that led him to oppose the iPhone maker’s App Store.

“It was clear to Tim that Apple had never thought about doing so.”Additionally, Musk noted that he had a “good conversation” with Cook and posted a video clip of “Apple’s beautiful HQ” in Cupertino, California, to Twitter.
