ISLAMABAD: The Tehran Declaration, which highlighted initiatives for member nations to collaborate in artificial intelligence for sustainable development, was endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Tuesday.
“Trustworthy and ethical artificial intelligence for sustainable development” was the stated objective in the declaration, which was issued following the end of the Second Minis-terial Meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform in Tehran. Brunei, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkiye, and Qatar were represented by high-ranking delegations.
Cooperation in AI education, research, infrastructure, governance, and technology transfer is emphasized in the joint document.
Among the initiatives is the creation of “AI-ready ecosystems”.
Member nations pledged to support talent mobility, public private collaborations, AI ready ecosystems, and best practice sharing.
Additionally, the proclamation urges funding for AI businesses, fellowships, training courses, and innovation forums. In order to tackle shared issues including healthcare, climate change, food security, and water shortages, it promotes cooperative research.
A Comstech delegation of four was led by Prof. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-Constech.
Throughout a statement, he emphasized how artificial intelligence will revolutionize research, economic growth, and education throughout the Muslim world. Under the OIC-15 framework, he reiterated Comstech’s unwavering support for institutional partnerships and cooperative projects.
