The Wikimedia Foundation, which runs the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, claimed that a disruption to its data service in May may have been caused by the high volume of traffice from OpenAI’s rogue agents.
Wikimedia could confirm “that we have discovered some activity by these ‘rogue’ OpenAI agents on Wikimedia platforms, “including a May event that caused a “partial outage” of its Wikidata Query Service, according to a blog post on Monday.
According to Wikimedia, the interruption appeared to have started when the agents looked through millions of pages.

Additionally, the OpenAI agents made unauthorized changes to Wikimedia wiki pages, including “potentially malicios edits” to a cittaion tool that the foundation claimed were probably meants to take over.
According to Wikimedia, malicious activity from OpenAI’s agents also affected its Etheroad note-taking service.
In a statement, OpenAI expressed gratitude for Wikimedia’s “detained findings” and said it was collaborating with the organization to analyze the activities.
Drew Pusateri, a representative for OpenAI, stated, “We’ll continue to share relevant information as that work progresses”.
OpenAI has been struggling to fullu comprehend the extent of its rogue agent activities.
